2012 Future Champions Gauteng Road Shows

Johannesburg, Thursday, 22 March 2012 – Gauteng is set to experience a week of action-packed soccer when the 2012 Future Champions Gauteng takes place in Pimville, Soweto.

Soccer enthusiasts will be able to share in the winning experience when a host of road shows take place on Saturday, 24 March and Friday, 30 March at Maponya Mall in the build-up to the event.

The prestigious junior international tournament for the Under-17 age-group is back for its fourth year and has a superb field of international and local teams who will compete from March 26-31 for the right to be crowned champions.

It will feature some of the best Under-17 sides in the world taking Mzansi’s finest over six days of competition at the Nike Football Training Centre in Soweto, with Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro seeking to retain their crown from 2011.

The road show events at Maponya Mall will give visitors the opportunity to get to know more about the 2012 Future Champions Gauteng, meet some of the future players, as well as receive great promotional giveaways from the Gauteng Provincial Government.

The festivities will be enhanced by the appearance of Kaya FM personalities, who will entertain the crowd and hand out the promotional giveaways. The road shows gets under way at 12h00 and will run until 14h00.

Bringing teams from dozens of different countries provided our boys exposure to cultural diversity they only read about in textbooks. Over and above the football, the players are also exposed to life-skills courses and HIV/AIDS awareness that could end up saving their lives in the future.
