THE 2011 Gauteng Future Champions Talent Search programme is on. The first trials took place last Saturday at Moletsane Sports Complex in Soweto.
And 600 boys from Joburg central and north districts took part. Nomazwe Ntlokwana of Gauteng Sports said the response was amazing.
She said: “There is talent at grassroots. We want to unearth it and give the youngsters basic soccer skills at a young age.”
The kids also went through the life skills programme, which lasted 45 minutes. This is aimed at changing attitudes to HIV/Aids.
The finals of the Talent Search will be held from 28 March to 2 April and top players will be chosen.
