The Under-17 side of Chile club Universidad Catolica will compete at the 2011 Future Champions Gauteng tournament that will be held between March 28 and April 2, the second South American club so far confirmed for the competition.
Universidad Catolica are a team born out of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Although students at the university started playing football as early as 1910, the club was officially formed in 1937.
The team have won 10 national championships, the last of which came in 2010, and the third most behind Universidad de Chile (13) and Colo-Colo (29). They also have been cup winners four times. Their most notable achievement on the continental stage was when they were runners up in the 1993 Copa Libertadores.
The side is currently coached by Juan Antonio Pizzi, who was born in Argentina but is a former Spanish international. Current Chile national team stars include goalkeeper Paulo Garc
