The Under-17 team of Mexican side Pachuca CF will be representing Central America at the 2011 Gauteng Future Champions tournament to be held from March 28 to April 2.
Founded in 1901, Pachuca spent much of the first 100 years of their existence in relative obscurity, flitting between the top-flight and second-tier in Mexican football. But the new century has brought a change of fortunes for the side and they are now amongst the most successful in Mexico.
The club has won five national championships between 1999 and 2007, and were crowned champions of the CONCACAF region on four occasions by claiming the Champions League in 2002, 2007, 2008 and 2010. Added to that, they won the 2006 Copa Sudamericana, the first Mexican side to win the South American championship.
Known as The Gophers, the club is coached by Argentine Pablo Marini and count among their current crop of players Mexican internationals Paul Aguilar, Leobardo L
